Enhanced SteelConnect SD-WAN
Riverbed recently announced a number of significant enhancements to its SteelConnect SD-WAN platform. These enhancements provide an unparalleled cloud-to-edge networking solution that partners can use to grow their SD-WAN business, and evolve their customers’ networks to become cloud-ready. See a brief summary of some of these enhancements below. For more information you can read the SteelConnect press release, or view the Riverbed Partner SteelConnect Page.
- Enhanced Automated Cloud Connectivity – This is new support for Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute and AWS Direct Connect. It automates cloud connectivity over dedicated private links and improves performance with single-click cloud optimization. This capability enables partners to offer deployment flexibility to end customers allowing them to securely connect to their cloud resources. Riverbed SteelConnect is the only complete networking solution that spans from the cloud to the edge, greatly simplifying the deployment and management of hybrid cloud and hybrid WAN architectures.
- Unified management of SD-WAN and Wi-Fi – This is seamless integration between SteelConnect SD-WAN and Riverbed Xirrus Wi-Fi for simplified deployment and management of the WAN, WLAN/LAN and the cloud. Customers can manage SD-WAN and Wi-Fi through a centralized cloud console. They can build a software-defined Wi-Fi network from SteelConnect Manager including zero-touch provisioning of Riverbed Xirrus APIs, creation of Wi-Fi networks, and Wi-Fi monitoring.
- Support for LTE wireless for maximum reach and connectivity – SteelConnect now supports LTE uplinks addressing various use cases, e.g., back up connectivity for retail, rural sites or pop-up stores. By leveraging LTE, retailers can maximize reach and productivity and increase resiliency and agility of the network. This increases the addressable opportunity enabling Partners to better serve their clients leveraging LTE as a connectivity option.
Since the initial launch of SteelConnect, Riverbed has continued a rapid pace of innovation, introducing a broad set of unique capabilities. These include integration with SteelCentral for visibility and insight; integration with the market-leading WAN Optimization solution (Riverbed SteelHead SD); and, following the strategic acquisition of Xirrus in May 2017, enterprise-grade Wi-Fi – bringing the power of policy-based network management out to the wireless edge. SteelConnect also seamlessly integrates with third-party network security services, such as Zscaler’s cloud security platform to help IT professionals achieve agility, performance and security across the distributed enterprise.
